چکیده

This thesis presents design of dielectric resonator loaded antenna for wireless applications. The design is a Different shape Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA) using different material for wireless applications. Here the DRA is excited by conformal patch connected to co-axial feeding which is an effective feed mechanism and more efficient in energy coupling than other types of feeding techniques. The shape of dielectric resonator is to improve the performance of the antenna. From the Simulation results it can be observed that achieving an impedance bandwidth from 2.3 to 3 GHz is 61.3 MHz at 2.6 GHz , gain is 3.9 dB , Directivity is 6.7 dBi and Efficiency 58.2 %. Parametric study is done by varying the shapes of the Dielectric Resonator (Simple Square, Hollow Square, Cylindrical and Hollow Cylindrical etc.) and Dielectric Constant Another parametric study is carried out by varying the Dielectric Material (Fr-4, Teflon and Ceramic) of the final design. Index Terms – Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA), Matching Bandwidth, Hollow Cylindrical Dielectric Resonator Antenna (HCDRA), S11parameter and Impedance Bandwidth (IBW).

Numerical Modeling and Experimental Study of Probe-Fed Rectangular Dielectric Resonator Antenna (RDRA) Supported by Finite Circular Ground Plane

Dielectric Resonator Antennas (DRAs) have received increased interest in recent years for their potential applications in microwave and millimeter wave communication systems. DRAs are normally used with the support of a ground plane. The radiation and impedance properties therefore depend not only on their physical dimensions and dielectric properties, but also on the size of the ground plane. ...

A Novel Circularly polarized dielectric resonator antenna with Branch-Line Coupler and Log-Periodic Balun

A new shaped circularly polarized dielectric resonator antenna (CP DRA) is studied with branch-line coupler and log-periodic balun for the GPS application. Since the coupler and balun are located under the DRA, it does not increase the footprint of the antenna, as a result the system is very compact. Two configurations are considered in this paper. In the first configuration, an external 50Ω lo...

Wideband Monopole/dielectric Resonator Antenna - a Review

Several wideband antennas are presented for either wireless application. This paper presents the performance of a simple monopole antenna loaded with an annular dielectric resonator as a wideband transmitting/receiving antenna. By adjusting the length of the monopole and load arm, a 10-dB bandwidth of 94% is achieved while maintaining monopole-like radiation pattern, which covers UWB applicatio...

FDTD Analysis of Top-Hat Monopole Antennas Loaded with Radially Layered Dielectric

Top-hat monopole antennas loaded with radially layered dielectric are analyzed using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Unlike the mode-matching method (MMM) (which was previously used for analyzing these antennas) the FDTD method enables us to study such structures accurately and easily. Using this method, results can be obtained in a wide frequency band by performing only one ti...
